I confess... I've not ridden my modern bike in nearly 2 weeks.

Mainly as the chainset has been broken (modern reliability for you) so I've had to rely on some old rigid steel thing to get me around.
A right penance it has been making do with 6 less gears and no boing my enjoyment must have been much less because it's old and i dint need to mortgage the house again to afford it (or a replacement chain-set)
