Anyone need machining doing?

I've just fitted the 1 1/4" spacer Broady made for me and it's absolutely spot on

Highly recommended, not sure where else I could have got this done for this kind of money. Real asset for retro bikers. ;)

Nice one, thanks again.

IIRC the Syncros top caps were cast (which didn't help with them cracking). I've been mulling that one over, and I think it's going to take a 5/6 axis machining centre to do one out of billet.

When tinkering around in my 3D CAD program and I have to keep remembering that just because I can draw it doesn't mean the machine shop can make it. :?

I've looked at this Syncros top cap, and It's pretty obvious from a cost perspective why it was cast instead of machined.... because it would probably have been prohibitively expensive to machine with that crazy angle.

Been racking my brain all night and trying to think of a way round this Syncros cap. I've made similar styled things to the top cap in the past (certain optic holders for lasers need to be specific angles but fit in a round bore) but the problem with the top cap would be that there's no easy way of fixing it to a jig to turn the outside down without drilling extra holes in it, and making it look rubbish.

You're looking at the problem with the wrong process in mind. Machining the cap is quite easy. The problem is the machine needed to do it isn't cheap, not a lot of shops have them, and the ones that do charge accordingly for their use.

Ah yeah I love that helmet video, sadly I've got to make do with the equipment I have and haven't got a spare £100k on the budget!

Like I say I've been trying to thing of a way to do it with the tools available to me, I'm sure I could do it but it may be quite an extensive job and for something so reletively simple and low cost it probably wouldn't be worthwhile.

It's probably been asked already, but I'd love my frame polishing to a mirror finish with the small imperfections removed for good measure. Is this something you offer?

the syncros cap is not a hard part to make using a cnc
the difficult bit is putting the c/bore in for the screw head

Yeah that was the part giving me jip while planning the steps to do it manually in my head, without having any additional holes to fix it to a jig it's definitely a tricky one.

Broady is a star, definitely one cool guy to use. If you have any machining requests then use him!

Ooooh... is that 56mm AND 58mm granny bolt holes? Nice touch...! If he can make that, I'll have to have a think what custom stuff I need...
