Need a new (to me) modern bike.

Looking at 2013 fives and Hecklers.

Any input dudes?

Re:

I love mine. It's in my signature. It is a lively bike and very capable. It is an 08 I think. Travel is right at 140 and am running it with a 150 fork. When I got it there was a push tuned fox rp23 on it and I didn't rate it with that on but put the Cane Creek shock on and it rides like a dream for me. Soaks everything up and is predictable and a lot more raw feeling than the Trek Fuel I had before it.

Re:

I had a 2010 which has the same geometry as the 2013. Great bike and loads of fun. Far more capable then the multi pivot snobs would have you believe too. Only thing to be aware of with a 2013 is that some people didn't get on with that years Fox CTD kit. I have some 2014 CTD forks which are great and I don't know what all the fuss is about but if you want to avoid that go for a 2012 as the frame was the same.

Oh, and don't pay too much as prices for 26" 5's have dropped a fair bit from where they were. I had a 2006 5 and now have a 2014 5 29 so they must do something right. ;)

Re:

Looking at £715 for a very tidy five AM frame and Fox 34ctd 160 forks. Inc headset and seatpost clamp for what it's worth.

Both 2013 and if good condition.

Seems an ok deal?

Re:

I'd say that's not a bad price. Not a bargain but not bad.

For reference the frames seem to go for £400 to £500 with 2013 Fox going for £200ish. If it's in vgc then it's about on the money but you wouldn't want to pay more.

Re:

Cheers dude appreciate the input.

I’ve genuinely been looking for a while and not many 2013 Five frames with a tapered headtube have come up for sub £500. Most are £600/£700 that I can see.

Similarly 150/160mm travel CTD Fox 34’s are more like £275 than £200.

That said if you can ping me some links to cheaper frames and forks that’d be great!

Re: Anyone had a Five? Thoughts?

I'll have a look mate. Are the prices you see sold price or for sale price? Reason I ask is that most people seem to be hanging on to modern 26" kit for a long time unless they're prepared to haggle.

Certainly say that for the forks. I got a pair of brand new, never ridden 2014 fox 34 CTD 29" for £300 as the seller had to accept he couldn't shift t
Hem for more. The reputation of the 2013 fox has really hit their value which is daft as they'll still be great.

Re:

What's all the fox 2013 stuff?

Seen a couple of hints but not the whole story...
