Thankfully I have not started the hobby of vintage cars just yet :facepalm:

Possibly just need to focus on my current projects a little more. Equally I think it’s pretty sound advice, just to embrace it, there’s worse things right. :shock:
The bottom line is that I like old mountain bikes, it’s not gonna change anytime soon. I guess my problem is I have hit the point where I can’t sell anymore of my current stable, I love my Prestige 91, Formula, Dynamo, my aluminium o’s that are built up and my Clockwork 89 and 92. So it unfortunate case of building the numbers up again whether I like it or not! :facepalm:

I did a few years back, I picked up a clockwork from this lady and she had a pretty much unused Kona Kilauea 93 also, sold for a hefty sum of £50

The Kona is well looked after by my wife in all fairness, it’s kept in the house

I just mentioned this thread to my wife (working from home) and :shock: she asked how the Orange Formula was going (being assembled for her) and i said its not, she said, theirs nothing wrong with her other bikes, and to be honest i would probably be scared to ride it, and is it really needed in these odd times.


:facepalm: Now i think i know where this is going, (and it was never expected from my wife, given shes always raced/rode both mountain bikes and road bikes).

I fear the writing is on the wall. And i wish i never opened my mouth... :facepalm: :cry:

I used to be in the same position Calum and repeatedly replaced the collection. It naturally slowed down for me after I'd been through most of the bikes I was interested in two or three times apart from exotica that I just couldn't justify due to cost vs use so lost a bit of interest and moved on to other things. I found that the vast majority of bikes I sold on, as much as I liked them at the time, left me with no regrets.

My interest has picked up recently but I have no desire to build up a huge collection so will keep things sensible and wait for the right bike/frame rather than what happens to be on ebay that week. If I had a massive, heated room to keep them all in and a lottery win things would be different but they're not so I spend the bigger bucks on modern bikes that I actually ride! :facepalm:

A Wade built Formula, Mk1 Vitamin T (one of my few regrets) or a silver/grey Clockwork would severally test my resolve though and are the reason I still search 'Orange' on ebay everyday!!

It is difficult, I have a understanding wife, but equally it’s difficult because I have a collection of modern road bikes that I race, not cheap too. Have managed to sell a couple of modern road bikes for good money recently, just to lead my wife into a false sense of security :facepalm:

Christ don’t sell your formula :facepalm:, glad Ed put first dibs, otherwise I would be tempted :shock:
