I think the quote at £170 is towards the lower end and good value- you could also try Atlantic Boulevard in Bury for a quote. You can easily source decals yourself (Lloyd/eBay etc) when you are ready.
When buying used steel frames you should carefully assess condition and what you're planning for it before negotiating the purchase price!
What would you/the market pay for a Fondriest SPX/TSX with chrome lugs/stays etc in near new condition? That's your price point...but I sense you want to re-spray yourself....just research it fully so you understand what's involved before you finally decide!

The better the prep the better the final finish.
So to be honest for a pro job to the standard that Argos or Bob Jackson produce those prices don't seem all that out of line to me, they have to remove all the old finish, deal with any blemishes, prep, mask, apply primer, flat off, re mask, apply paint, flat off again, apply top coats, polish, apply decals, apply clear coat and polish again.

Surely there is someone in Denmark, Holland or Belgium who can do it for you? There's a hell of a lot of very very good frame builders in those areas.FiveAlpha":8rl3uahs said:I am leaning towards getting Bob Jackson to do the work - I just need to bring it with me, next time I fly back to the UK (I live in Denmark).
Thanks for your input.
