Any bikes, frames, brands, parts that are above reproach?

Wish I had the spare cash to buy one, I could spend it on another bike that I really liked

Roberts
Yates
Mindum
Lloyd
Shorter
etc, etc

Basically, IMO, all of the smaller 'shed built' brands due to their attention to detail.

My 'beyond reproach' list:

Fat Chance Titanium Frame
Pace RC30 (531 welded steel)forks
Specialized GC extreme tyres
M231CD rims
Onza Ti bar ends (welded)
Turbo Saddle
XC-Pro seatpost
Salsa Flip-offs
DT double butted spokes
XT 730 groupset
Salsa stem
Sachs Maillard block
Rolhoff chain
Tomac Attack grips
WTB Custom Ti bars
Cateye nylon bottle cage
Cateye toeclips/straps
XC-pro pedals
King headset
UN90 BB
American Classic/Kingsbery Hubs
DT brass nipples
Chris Bell chainrings
Venhill featherlite cables
Trek inner tubes

Nice solid, no frill, no break-down build. (although if I was honest I would have to use a set of cooks cranks despite the fact that they do crack at the tapers from time to time....

Completely missing the point...
All the manufacturers of the above have had their turkeys. Are there any that haven't?

Zinn, Rivendell or Roberts. But then, even the little guys have probably made howlers at one point.

It's like persian rugs that women deliberately make mistakes in; only god can make something perfect.

I had a set of the 531 RC30's with welded on brake pivots fitted to an Orange P7 in the mid 90's. They were fine until the brake pivot snapped off at a very inconvenient time....

which bit of the point did I miss? The frame that is beyond reproach is a Fat Chance Titanium, not that the Brand Fat Chance is beyond reproach. The parts I listed are (in my eyes) beyond reproach.

So I ask again, which bit of the point of the original question am I missing? Enlighten me as it seems a fairly simple question that Ed asked and one that I have answered fairly simply.

The question was "Are there any bikes, frames or brands that are above criticism?".

The question is 'Are there any bikes, frames, brands, parts that are above reproach.

So again, which bit did I miss with my list that shows the frame and parts that are above reproach in my eyes?

I like stuff that lasts forever, or has already been proven in production over many years.

Add Brooks saddles to that list.
If they suit your arse & you don't mind the look, you have a saddle for life.

Oury or A'me grips.
LX thumbies.
XT hubs.
Shimano SPDs. Although I hate them, they cost nothing and seem to last forever.
CK headsets.
Anything by Royce.
Everything I have ever bought by Ortlieb.

RE. Potts/ Roberts and other custom builders. You'd expect ANY bike that was custom built for 1 specific rider to be beyond reproach.

Though I have heard of several customers who claimed Chas Roberts tweaked their requested frame dimensions, thinking he knew best. Result: Unhappy customer.
