And today I did......

also why have they made the guides on the down tube slotted but not the ones on the top tube

Because the top ones are for a continuous outer cable to the rear brake which your going to do anyway and look better than cable ties. Loads of old bikes have this feature plus the top tubes curved, if there was a stop only at either end the inner cable would rub on the frame and spoil the surface.

Either way with one of your paintjobs it'll be a work of art.

Here's an idea, we've had the weight weenie build off, what about the best rattlecan paintjob comp :D

Ah right ;) , to think that i'm building a car from scratch but could'nt figure that out

Cheers for the vote of confidence on the paint ;) , doubt i could match Si's work though, but then i doubt very much he uses a rattle can, i would'nt have went anywhere near JMC's Salsa with a Rattle can

Think the frame looks good shiny Mark, just add some light pin-striping and a painted head tube? Although I suppose it'd be a bugger to keep shiny. Talking about rat paint jobs, I've been thinking about getting some of that Plastikote stone effect paint from B&Q - thinking about squirting my modern Avalanche frame, could look interesting and thought it might be slightly more hard-wearing than normal. Plus cheap of course.

Looks ok polished but i did'nt think it fitted with the pseudo Klunker deal, may be worth throwing it together as is though, see what it looks like :)

nice one DT looking for a tent myself for spring and summer so any recommendations would be welcome

How many will use it at any one time?,do you want an area where you can sit? outwith the sleeping areas and where you can do the cooking/sitting watching the rain outside with a beer in your hand ;)
Or are you happy with everyone in the one compartment :?

considering something whacky though

Big spots all over it.
Or stripes  not often you see them.Black & White vertical ones

for 3 people. one big two wee need not be big but want it to stand up to the elements would be taking the car so not bothered about a mini house idea.

Haven't been on for a while but now have work sorted so am definitely planning to be on here more, to get more done regarding the scrapheap behind the shed and to get out with you lot sometime.

Have just started my new job in sunny east lothian  and tomorrow i'm off to pick up a new Cube for work purposes - i'm definitely liking the thought of getting paid to patrol on an MTB :D

That sounds great Buzz, are you in the police or is it a community type thing? A mate up here does the police bike runs occasionally, their "shared" bikes are in a terrible state as they are kept outside, I think the regular riders keep care of theirs though.

I was surprised to see the poor quality they were riding about on  .You should be able to pick your own and have the force pay up to a certain amount.

The story goes ;)
The police bosses[buyers] contacted all the local bike shops and asked for aa price based on the entire order[bikes, helmets, lights etc etc] with a breakdown of each costing.
So the LBS came up with a price as it seemed the order would be huge,so they worked out discounts for X amounts.
Then supplied their quotes back to the police buyers.
The police came back to them saying.'oh no we dont want to buy it all off you but we will take the helmets and lights as you are the cheapest.

Promptly told to F*** OFF

Stripped the Kamo Klunker thisafternoon, wracked my brain for paint ideas for the new one but did'nt come up with anything

Have no use for the old frame if anyone wants to save it from the bin, has no cable stops, brake bosses or rear mech hanger though, so some improvisation may be necessary, or make it a fixie :)
