And today I did......

I've always fancied a tandem. There is bloke local to me who builds them, very tidy too. I have painted a few for him now and one day will probably pester him for a shot on one.

This morning i built up the Cotic. No decals yet so no pics, although seeing as i like you lot i will let you have a sneeky preview.

Also made a solid start on JMCs Salsa frame. Disc mount and brace removed already. These are some issues at the bottom of the seat tube so it looks like a little brazing work this afternoon.

Today I ordered a Garmin edge 500 for the bike and a rather tasty WCS wet white stem for the roadie.

Just took delivery of 2 Mark 4 Vango force tens :D :D :D .I've been on tenterhooks waiting for them, mainly to see their condition as i got then for literally pennies
Set up one in the front room[as you would, well it is peeing down outside]and it looks in rather good condition :D

Now we can ditch the big coleman for winter camping and use one of these instead
No more waking up freezing because the roof is 7' high  ,no more frayed nerves getting the bloody thing up in anything other than the smallest of breezes.
Finally i have one[or 2 rather] of these cracking tents for myself,a tent that can withstand anything Scotland in winter can throw at it

Super chuffed :D

nice one DT looking for a tent myself for spring and summer so any recommendations would be welcome

love the paint job Si  as well as thw salsa engineering ;)

Nice paint Si  , looking forward to seeing the rest of it.

New frame landed for my Klunker/Bomber :), it's shite really but cant complain for £40

Plans this time are for gears and a Canti rear brake so i can use the thing a bit more (still retaining the drum front brake), going to cut those ugly (non slotted) cable guides off the top tube though, having a continuous length of outer cable tied to the frame would be better looking  , also why have they made the guides on the down tube slotted but not the ones on the top tube :? , the side stand mount will also come off.

Will get the rear wheel built with a plain 36 hole hub, then shop for a cassette, shifter, chain, rear brake, going to use another motorcycle lever for the rear brake, i'll also need one of those plastic guide things that go under the BB shell if anyone has one laying around ?

Colour is undecided, was going to go for a rat POS look, then swiched to just plain gloss black, considering something whacky though

How many will use it at any one time?,do you want an area where you can sit? outwith the sleeping areas and where you can do the cooking/sitting watching the rain outside with a beer in your hand ;)
Or are you happy with everyone in the one compartment :?

Big spots all over it.
Or stripes  not often you see them.Black & White vertical ones

Tent-erhooks :)

Gazz - Was quite impressed with the 3 man Vango Beta the couple of times I used it - Cheap, easy enough to put up/down, and flame retardent for when the wind blows your stove over  The porch area is useful, although not fully weather tight. Anyway, want a borrow?

Glad the Cotic kept it's blue base colour, looking forward to the Salsa resto thread.

Think the frame looks good shiny Mark, just add some light pin-striping and a painted head tube? Although I suppose it'd be a bugger to keep shiny. Talking about rat paint jobs, I've been thinking about getting some of that Plastikote stone effect paint from B&Q - thinking about squirting my modern Avalanche frame, could look interesting and thought it might be slightly more hard-wearing than normal. Plus cheap of course.

One of my several Mk3's partially dismantled whilst trying to identify electrical fault (dead alternator  ) on the 900R on SKYE a couple of years ago :p
