And today I did......

Cable front and rear. I have used Atom hubs from the late 60's/ early 70's. The rear still takes a screw on 6 speed freewheel and mech.

Just had it for a test run. Front works perfectly well but the rear is just a decoration at the moment.

I checked in here for the first time in an embarrasingly long time

Not good enough, whats your excuse ?, dont let it happen again.

TBH i'm just as much a stranger these days due to poxy work

I've managed to do bugger all to be honest.

I was planning to go for a ride since the rain had stopped but have a bit of an upset stomach. the type that makes spending time on a narrow saddle a bit of a daunting prospect if you know what I mean.

Today I discovered that despite spending 2 grand on getting the Microcar in the hope it wasn't a banger like the Reliant, it is still none the less a banger

Attempted to replace the forward drive cable, on paper an easy job, in fact a complete booger with zero success. So refitted the old one and prepare to take to garage. Key in the ignition, electrics come to life but zero noise from starter motor, it was working fine 3 days ago now nothing, grrrrrrrr

Checked on web for info and low and behold this is not an uncommon problem. Most likely the spade connector to the solenoid in the starter needs attention. Unfortunately starter sits behind the engine in an engine bay that requires double jointed arms or even better tentacles to negotiate.

Fed up :(

Shame you are so far away Velo, i'd have checked it out for you.
