You mean Diggers near Dalry road? Rumour was it had a line in from the Brewery not true but if you held up 4 fingers at the door 4 pints of 80 would be waiting at the bar when you got through the crowd.

Seen that being done, even done it too. Diggers had the best system of bar staff on busy match days, a spotter who took your order, loads of guys pouring and somebody on the till, nae haud ups at aw.

Although I do remember one time my mate and I went in on a Saturday on our way to Murrayfield, couldn't get in the main door on corner (think the round ball game wis being played in aw) but got in side door into snug on Angle Park Terrace. Ordered 4 pints ( we only had 1/2 an hour  ) from the guy at the wee window in glass partition but he didn't come back. Another guy then asked us what we wanted, "We've ordered 4 pints but he's no come back" , "Well that'll be 4 pints then?", "OK".
Then the first guy came back with 4 pints followed shortly by 2nd guy with 4 pints. It was a struggle but we ersed the 4 pints each in the 1/2 hour, by the time we walked to Murrayfield we felt a wee bit pissed.

In my student days i was a regular with my flatmate in the Shakespeare Bar in the Hilltown of Dundee. We always drank the same beer and always played pool consequently when my tall presence was spotted by the bar staff we would find two pints of Best and a pounds worth of twenty pences sitting on the bar by the time we'd fought our way through the Dundonian clientelle. That was service

Alas I've never been in Diggers, my Edinburgh regular for many years was 'The Steamie' on Newington Road.

my mum says my dad used to go there to pick on the mods     she says the sheer size of him would have them all packed in the corner drinking whilst he sat by the bar drinking

The Steamie in Newington Road... this seems to be a pub that has escaped me in my 11 years of research in Edinburgh. The only one on Newington Road that I can remember was the one on the corner with West Preston Street that all the Scottish Widows staff went to, and consequently, I didn't.

Used to drink fairly regularly in the Junction Bar, just round the corner though. And the Southsider, Old Bell, Leslie's, Bennet's, Bennet's, Mather's, Mather's, The Blue Lamp, Cloisters, The International Bar (a lot!), Whistlebinkies, The Hebrides, The Doric Tavern, Jingling Geordies, The Royal Oak, Sandy Bell's, The Tap o' Lauriston, Burlington Bertie's, Jamie's, The Tron, Milne's Bar. And more much more, depending on where I stayed and what company I kept.

I probably drank too much at that time...

A scary bloke fi Broxburn went to a rough bar in Dundee just to scare the mods

Thats either extreme dedication or someones got confused in this thread, me probably
