I went to the bike station in edinburgh on saturday - great place, didn't have time for a long rake though needed a seatpost for the khs - needed a 26.8 but they had none left - took a 26.7 off there hands for a £1 - never seen that size before, I thought they were stepped in 0.2s. Seems to fit well enough just now, I suspect I'll add a bit of coke can after a while.

Popped down to Glentress yesterday afternoon for a quick hurtle. After all the road works, the majority of Spooky woods is smooth, armoured, bermy and fast. Not sure if I like it or not. Lost my front brake half way down too... pads right down to the metal So rode the blue down with only a back brake, cracking fun actually, I can see I'd be a better rider if I could lay off my brakes more and set myself up speed wise before I hit corners. Food for thought.

On the topic of odd sized seatposts, Ragley do a 27.3.

Took the GT safety bicycle out yesterday for a spot of cross country, took the dog along too for the first time.

Behaved suprisingly well, until he spotted a rhodesian ridgeback. :shock:

Saturday i had the first car flat tyre in my motoring life, fitted spare at side of road no bother and continued. Today I went to get a new tyre, ARRRGGGG, unusual tyre so one tyre will cost me £93 fitted :cry:
145/60 R13 is alas most uncommon in the UK, 145/70 R13 common as muck but wont fit.
Lesson to me and everyone else, factor in the price of consumables into car choice, not just the car price :roll:

Completed build on Emmelle Californian from Buzz1024. Looks a mess because removing rattlecan black from original paint not as easy as first thought. However it rides well, better than my old falcon, its all in the geometry. I do like tip rescue free bikes, weird but true :roll:

Will try to test it out at GT this week sometime as I'm on anual leave, snow and ice permitting

Even Kwikfit are significantly cheaper if you buy online and drive to the local banch for fitting a day later.

Thanks TK, for future that'll be useful however Kwikfit are fitting the tyre for £93. Next time i'll be prepared but due to lightweight qualities of car, punctures aside the tyres should last for ages

Next expense was getting Murphy the cat his anual jabs, thank god us humans have got the NHS, prescription charges are nothing compared to vet costs. He's healthy though and seems to have forgiven me for the trip to that horrid place, currenty curled up in front of fire

Hit my local trails on the Emmelle, perfect bike for this as the mud was plentiful and deep. Shloppy Gloop, miles of spoke bed deep schloppy gloop, wheels sliding left and right, coating everything in brown, magic
Messing up a cheap bike does not upset
