Nothing special, its either a medium or a Large, I hope the latter, possibly a 1999 in inkwell blue. Y3's and Y5's were down market versions of the earlier carbon framed models. As is known, I like URT designs and Trek more or less invented the mass market Y-Framed bike so i hoped to nab one one day. URT frames are good for single speeding though not necceserily good performers but then neither am I

Just done some further reading on the Y series Treks, read lots of rider reveiws. General consensus is good for XC not more extreme stuff, liked by all who've got used to them, disliked by those who've never rode them or who had a brief go of a mates. You need to ride them for a bit to get used to their foibles and setting up your suspension well can cure any of the well documented alledged faults. I looking forward to getting this built up, hope I can get a good enough shock :D

I think there was some talk of modern shocks being good for these, less pedal bob.

Yeah, i remember it being quite rough Gazz, but the Clockwork is the most sensible choice out of the three i have up and running at the moment.

Stumpie is looking great

Bloody hell Gaz, First time I've seen a stumpy with an erection. Is that not like steering the Exxon Valdes?
**************************

Been camping at the weekend - did a couple of rides on Saturday that would make a grand day out - although a bit landrover tracky.

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en& ... 6&t=h&z=13

Really nice Bothy half way round for a cuppa and we could even detour to the House of Bruar's covered and heated patio for a Cake and Hot Chocolate. the loop marked is about 15 miles and we could ad a figure of 8 detour that would include Bruar and add about another 5.

yeah it is a rather long shaft- handles ok even so, but I might go down the riser bar in the future as this set up on my old stumpy was just right.

sounds cool TK need to consult the pass monster as it seems as if I kind of agreed to go to the old mt bike wc thing and the ctc is def on my to do list also.
