Singlespeed

Incredibly busy week, well the last two actually. So not much time out on the bike. Today though I finally got a decent ride on the singlespeed. SSEC 2010 next week so needed to check and also experiment with a few things.
It was great with the initial setup, magic gear and all!
It feels very light, especially the front end. All up well pleased in current setup so will take it like this. May change my H bars for J bars and fit those. It feels high at the front with the H bar as it has a rise where as the J bar is the same shape without a rise, so that should be spot on. It will have to wait till after next week though, so will just leave the S Works Thermo's bars on for now.
I might put my Umma Gumma cannibals on it though before I go.

Dahon is nearly folded up and stored in its bag for transport through the train system. This bike is a 'does exactly what it says on the tin' machine and thus is a little souless but my gates are a pain to lug on and off trains and require lots of train reservations so Dahon it is.

Completed a 30 mile trip with luggage on my fixie on and off road yesterday in the glorious sunshine so quite pleased with my self.

Currently staring at the BSA roadbike plotting its next touring build. I fancy a week of cycle camping this summer either in Dumfries and Galloway or more exotically the near continent

Capri will need to go to fund it, also maybe a couple of bikes, was thinking of having a clearout anyway, FSR and LTS probably.

Does'nt look anything like the one in the pic at the moment, it's a bare shell and a pile of bits, will hopefully look like that one when done though, after three years and a pile of dough

Ahaaaaaa, it's a Gartrac G4 Escort, meaning it looks a wee bit like a 90's MK4 (on steroids) but is all RWD Group four MK2 Escort underneath (some were four wheel drive too and used in Rallycross).

Hey, I learned to drive in an Allegro... then after more than four years of not driving because I was at University got thrown the keys of a Pilkington's pool car and was told that I had to drive from St Helens to the Triplex factory in Birmingham, a journey that saw me a) drive on the mainland UK for the first time, b) negotiate traffic lights for the first time, c) and roundabouts, d) and motorways and dual carriageways, e) Spaghetti Junction and f) the first roads that went to places I had never been before.

It was OK, though my buddy on the practice drive the night before I set off sh@t himself when I went through red lights coming off J23 of the M6.

But on more cycle related matters, 51 miles on the road bike today at a feeble 14.3mph- I blame my cold. About 48 of them in thick fog as I did a Five Islands tour via causeways, only to arrive back in Kirkwall to find everything basking in sunshine, as it had all day. Doh!

Very unconvinced about my new Charge Spoon saddle, and I suspect I may have been sent a Charge Fork by mistake.

The unpleasant constant sniffing of the morning ride meant an evening one was scratched, and I went down to my allotment to dig and be lied to by more experienced gardeners, supposedly offering advice.

It's very competitive.
