And today I did......

I don't want to poo on anyones parade and normally just think that each to his own and all, but that Marin ????? That could only look good if it was priced under £300. Really uninspiring from where I see it (and I have a HD monitor). The seat tube junctions for top tube and seat stays look wrong, the chainstays look like they have been pressed, and the colour, well I see they are trying to get with the 'retro' theme but really it just looks like some old £100 Marin. I like the really old Marins but for a long time they are so uninspiringly bland they should come with a packet of pressed chicken. This is just the ' hey! fatbikes are popular, lets just put some 4inch tyres on an old frame and get it out there'
No offence ;)

Re:

I don't think any of the old guns figure highly in folks thoughts these days but they are still there putting out solid bikes. I reckon it's a bargain at £750

That's a nice frame Velofrog :)
Ready for some winter riding? ;) Have to get a ride out down your way soon.
Sorry Kaiser, I just had a bit of a Velo moment regards the Marin. I don't normally judge any of them if they aren't my thing, just move on really. My motley collection is maybe uninspiring from outside looking in, but to me they all mean something special, all about perspective I personally think. Hence why I don't say much if it doesn't do it for me as it may be someone else's dream machine. Don't get me wrong as I do like Marins, one of my favourites is actually a plain old Bear Valley, good honest steel. I remember when I worked in the bike shop and a Indian Fire Trail came in, even with a rack on the back it was the lightest mtb I had ever picked up I think. I just think they could do so much better with livening it up a bit these days. At least its a reasonable price.

No problem with the Marin either. If I was being picky the old person beige-like colour of the frame ain't to my taste though.
But that isn't part of the actual bike design, seen plenty of cars I like in horrible colours.
