Found this D-T recently at a local market place and was too good to pass. 50€ but…

Group set is in poor technical condition, cosmetic ok. Seat post cut down to just 20cm, wheels are lower range hubs and hoops with slick skinny tires. Suspension stem is toast too so basically just a frame.

Took it apart yesterday and decided to give it it’s own topic.

First the seat post. Odd size I don’t have in my possession so google is your friend: 14 euros including shipping for a Ergotec post. Removed the logo and added a nos Vetta SL seat and here we go…

Took everything off and gave frame a good clean. Decals are a bit damaged on edges and have a few scratches but those are battle scars I can live with.

After cleaning it’s time to fit new wheels. Ambrosio competition CR22 rims laced to XT hubs. Unfortunate one of the Ambrosio logos was worn off and when I tried to touch up it became even worse. So took it off.
Added some Tioga’s butterscotch tires and another stem/bar combo and it immediately started to look like a mountain bike.

And to my surprise I had a RS Mag21 where lowers were nearly same color as main tubes frame! Bit more yellowish but I think with some cleaning it will be close. Needs a full service anyway.

New FSA Orbit ahead set and forked in the old Mag. Stem is temporary until I find something better.

Original LX group is poor so will go full XT with tumbies.
