Regardless of my feelings about Cameron, I reckon this is probably for the best in the meantime.
Outside the Euro, we could not really accept restrictions designed for nations with a united currency.
For the next few years we should take a look at what joining the Euro would mean long term.
I never supported a unified fiscal policy, was always sceptical about it.
It is rather like putting your salary into a pot, and letting your drunk cousin take out of it as they wish to support their non productive lifestyle.
If Scotland were independent I would see some possible sense in joining the Euro at some stage, but as it stands I think we should all pull together, and work towards making this society work better, regardless of what currency we use.
Instinctively I baulk at the idea of allowing Germany to rule the roost in Europe. I have German ancestors, and my first serious girlfriend was German. It is a fantastic country, and they appreciate serious rock music.
I just don't think they have the same priorities as the British, nor the same ingenuity in arts or engineering.
With Germany at the helm I fear Europe will never achieve the status it is due in the world at large.
