A thread about politics

Regardless of my feelings about Cameron, I reckon this is probably for the best in the meantime.

Outside the Euro, we could not really accept restrictions designed for nations with a united currency.

For the next few years we should take a look at what joining the Euro would mean long term.

I never supported a unified fiscal policy, was always sceptical about it.

It is rather like putting your salary into a pot, and letting your drunk cousin take out of it as they wish to support their non productive lifestyle.

If Scotland were independent I would see some possible sense in joining the Euro at some stage, but as it stands I think we should all pull together, and work towards making this society work better, regardless of what currency we use.

Instinctively I baulk at the idea of allowing Germany to rule the roost in Europe. I have German ancestors, and my first serious girlfriend was German. It is a fantastic country, and they appreciate serious rock music.

I just don't think they have the same priorities as the British, nor the same ingenuity in arts or engineering.

With Germany at the helm I fear Europe will never achieve the status it is due in the world at large.

Here we go again Important and complex situations being discussed in terms of lazy, national stereotypes and cliches.

It has to be the fault of the nasty Germans wanting to over-run Europe, aided by those cheese-eating surrender monkeys, the French.

Rule Britannia !!!
Too true.
The only problem with the EU is that all agreements were written assuming they would be overseen and voted on by logical, intelligent and informed minds.
They then let the MEPs in to run it, who by thier very nature have a political agenda with a me first attitude.
Like fish and chips it's fine on paper but it quickly turns messy when we get our hands on it.
Humans just can't be trusted with power, I say let the badgers have a go.

I've always been a believer in simple economics, a basic capitalist system etc..........but it's just become such a swiss cheese of loop holes, greed etc i'm not surprised it's all coming tumbling down. Look at China, if they carry on as they are, they will just become another coca cola culture, filled with too much consumerism, extra crime...stess related deaths ..blah blah blah ..............i definately blame the beverage called coca cola, as soon as a country gets it, it's all down hill

.

Its that Merkel woman again, perhaps the badgers are already in charge

the biggest problem within this I feel is that as long as the euro stands then germany and france feel they are kings of europe

where it goes wrong is that the euro and euro zone is a failed experiment that is crumbling down and rather than accept that..start to rebuild and move on..those on the gravy train of dellusion are artificially propping up a dead aunt to gain the benefits payments

It was worth a try but it hasn't worked

Once it crumbles, countries get back thier own borders and own currencies and are able to make decisions in the best interest of thier own countries..then and only then will the trade improve, everyone will know where they stand and we can start to rebuild again

Putting off the execution is just delaying the inevitable and dragging out the pain longer with more damage being done
