with your attitude we may as well shut down the site, weigh in all our bikes for scrap and only ride something less than 3 months old (because of H&S regarding used Carbon) and only ride in hi viz tabards around well organized routes with air ambulance on stand-by.

My tabard is on order - do they come in 'puny' size?

It appears that with a light hearted post I seemed to have opened a can of (carbon wrapped) whup ass.

I think I was confused last night by the heady combination of bluebells, dusty trails, sunlight and three cans of Red Bull (sugar free naturally, wouldn't abuse my body).

So, suspension is evil and RC30s are the way forward. Anyone fancy some RC36s?

I think the trick is keeping what's retro - retro and having a retro experience when us nutters take old tech out to the knarly hills.

If the RC36s period fit onto a bike you really feel is retro then great. I'd love some minty modern forks that really work, not on a retro though.

Some great modern bikes out there but without some creativity and tricking yourself the modern/retro compromise isn't really possible. I do fancy a nu skool 'retro' bike though for modern days out. In the meantime playing with the idea of a 2.5/2.7 front tyre to tame my rigid Trailblades some more!

The full suspension monster remains un built, don't want to get spoilt do I?!
