'97 King Kikapu seatpost size/issue

Any chance anyone knows the correct seatpost diameter for the 1997 King Kikapu? Had this bike for a pretty long time, just went to swap the collar and noticed it's pinched pretty badly. It came with a 27.0 post, same as all my other '97s, and has more than enough insertion length. I've never moved the post, and never thought to check . Luckily there's a few of the old guard builders around so I'll take it in and see what my options are, but can't seem to find original size info.

27.0 from the spec sheet. From the pictures it looks like someone has tried to insert a larger post and deformed the tube, would explain why you are haveing to pinch it up to clamp the right size post now.

Sorry didn’t manage to get up the attic will try again tomorrow but I’m sure it’s 27mm also

But yeah as above someone’s jammed something in there real shame too, if it does become toast would be interred in linkage as always handy to have spare :C

They're 27 but 27.2 is a better tollerance fit

Awesome, thanks very much for all the help. I was sure it's 27.0, but someone must've tried hammering something massive in there once upon a time because the collars really pinched down to get it back to 27. Still can't believe I never noticed it. I'll cross my fingers it's not too far gone.

100% it should be 27.0. Just be careful with old aluminum that's been compromised

Sorry its been such a nightmare last 2 nights haven't braved the cold attic lol im going to go with its just 27mm

Yeah, that seems to be the definitive answer. Thanks for the offer and all the help. As soon as I have a minute to myself I'll pack it and the seatpost up and take it in. The frame guys said they'll check it over and do what they can for me.
