Well ive just bought another pair of charge splashbacks (2.1"), they seemed like the best of both worlds but on a budget (blindly spending £90 on a pair of Onza Canis didnt strike me as a great idea) so these were a cheap alternative

i had a 1.8" pair of these fitted to this bike before (see page 1) ...i really didnt think much of them last time, the sidewalls were thin and they didnt last very long. i replaced them with IRC's but those were far too narrow. this time im not expecting em to last forever, i think i prefer cheaper rubber i can 'do skids on' anyway For less than 20 quid, i can't complain

These tyres look so hot and weigh so little. I wonder how you will find them this time around and to what other tyre they compare to. Even if they arent the most durable tyre out there, like you said for that money it doesnt really matter

I've a pair of the 2.1 Splashbacks and my Retro spesh. They're not a bad tyre, quite quick rolling but if your riding hard they do roll quite a bit in the corners and don't like mud/really damp conditions.

I've just bought a new set of Onza Canis from Commencal, direct from there French store on line. They had s half price sale and with the pound so strong against the euro, cost £70 including postage. Fingers crossed they ride well.

I had a pair on my kona, 1.8 on the rear and 2.1 on the front. Theres not much difference in size, the 1.8 isnt as narrow as you would expect of a 1.8 inch tyre. They are fast rolling and light but as stated above they dont like wet mud, definately not a winter tyre. Im not overly keen on the squared off profile either, I'd prefer a rounder profile but thats just down to personal preference. They're not bad for what they are, i have no complaints

Cheers. You'll have to let us know how you get on with the Canis and whether they're worth spending the extra few quid over the cheaper charge

I had the first 1.8" pair when i first started building this bike, i looked at photos on google before hand and they looked big enough. i replaced them with 1.95" IRC tyres after and they were considerably more narrow. I thought if the 1.8" was that wide then the 2.1" would be massiv, but they're really not

i have a Nikon D3100 ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nikon-Digital-C ... B00403MA4M ) but i also use my iPhone for some of the close ups because the optical zoom/focus is better at close range. i do have photoshop elements on my Mac which i use just to crop the pictures down and make them forum size. sometimes the brightness needs to be adjusted too because the flash from the nikon can be quite bright and it over exposes

I bought it in 2013, i was only interested in the frame but it was a complete/original bike until that point. i changed the graphics to begin with and that does make quite a big difference. but the frame is nearly mint besides a few little scratches and stone chips... it does get used after all

i found a pair of the 440mm a-c pace forks i was looking for, so i now have both rigid and suspension options i can use without altering the geometry. the older pace forks i might keep as a spare or i might sell i havent decided yet


the wheels are rebuilt and ready, the hope Ti's are laced to mavic 317s which i originally planned to have laced on the original XT hubs over a year ago... i liked the citrus rims but i thought they looked a bit tacky on a turquoise bike and the braking surface was fairly worn on the rear
