Years ago.....92/93 IIRC.....I begged and pleaded my old LBS to take this HUGE 1991 Raleigh poster down and give it to me.

After weeks of asking, they gave in

For years it hung in my parents garage, and they eventually took it down.

I thought it was lost until they popped up a couple of weeks ago and said "I believe this is yours"

:D

Baker & Tomac.....cool as ;)

That is extremely cool pickle!! Would look even cooler in my cellar ;)

Cheers, but this isnt going anywhere! It will shortly be mounted on my shed wall next to my poster of Kelly Brook (who is wearing nothing but a smile ;) )

Ace.. from the 'proper' retro era when Raleigh were a force to be reckoned with.

Certainly was the 'proper' era. Baker was unbeatable. Remember his Plymouth victory?

In the early/mid '90's, I used to live just down the hill (in Derbyshire) from Paul Hinton as he was making his transition from road to MTB... There were a bunch of us (including Rory Hitchens and Chris & Siobhan from Team North Face) who used to go out for "casual" rides on a Wednesday night.

Never have I been so knackered... Nor so healthy.... This brings back happy memories...

Sweet

I remember that Paul was the only one in the Raleigh team that used RC35's when the others were on Mag 20/21's. He was the 'cool' one in the team ;)

Heh.

I've just been lost in a complete wave of nostalgia... I also think that I've found Rory H on Facebook and sent him a friend request, though I'm not sure that he'd remember me... As a kid (15, maybe 16), I remember that I was in his phonebook right next to Jo Burt, and I thought that that was the coolest thing alive.

I remember, there was one day when Paul Hinton phoned me up - he wanted me to be the "pupil" in a technique article for one of the mags (Not MBUK, it was the newer, glossier one, but not sure on the name)... My folks wouldn't let me have the day off school to do it though... I was completely devestated!

Right... I'm off to find my photo's from the '95 nationals at Eastridge, and I'm going to start scanning them in!

MTB Pro.

Get them scans up ASAP!

Am looking for them, but I've got a horrible sinking feeling that the pics might be in a box at my Ma & Pa's... I know for a fact that I've got shots of Baker on the start line, Caro Alexander racing the XC, and JMC racing his Specialized on the bottom end of the DH.

I think I might even have some of Chris Boardman knocking around on his crutches - it was just after he'd come off his bike in the wet during the prologue of the TDF... Christ he got some stick from us, if only from a distance (and quite quietly)!

Shit... Way to make a bloke feel old... Thanks! ;)

I met Chris at the TDF when it started in Holland.

He is a nice chap, stood chatting to him for about 10mins

This whole site is dedicated to making people feel old!!
