Donor bike in hand. Trusses are 21.5” likely need 19 3/4”. Will cut down and reweld tabs👍🏻
I make my own truss rods. I use hot rolled bar stock, thread the end for an acorn nut and a regular nut to act as a clamp. I take scrap angle iron, drill a one inch hole and grind and file it to make the truss rod top mount. It’s the black thing beneath the homemade bottle cage mount. Small diameter pieces of pipe were welded to the angle iron as attachment points for the rods. 70CF41CD-874F-46BE-A1AF-3008FE2B7C9B.jpeg
For the axle tab I cut a slot in the bottom the truss rod, grind the zinc plate off of a fork safety retaining washer, straighten the tab, insert it into the slot, weld it and file a neat profile. The rods are both bent together using clamps and a wood jig.

I do prefer the look of the CCM bars & stem, but if YOU don’t like them, then swap them as you have done. The positioning on some of these cruiser bars can be quite odd to be honest. Those truss rods do look a bit bonkers long. I’m looking at that side view thinking you could frabricate/integrate a small rack between them and the headtube... just a thought.

Oh yeah! Geared hub? 😎

not sure but is this worth me grabbing? Trail Mate, Sarasota Florida
Never heard of or seen anything by Trail Mate, but the frame looks cool, and it has some interesting parts. Are the dropouts rear facing? Something about it gives me the feeling that it is home made. That Sturmey shifter is desirable, but the cable run makes me think it's not original. The seat is pretty cool with the massive springs, and I love the moto style bars.
