2007 Orange Clockwork. Update, 07/12/16.

Lovely, looks like your paints survived better than the one i picked up.

Any chance you could let me know the seatclamp size? Need to grab one for my build.
 
Hello mate. Sorry for the late response, only just seen this :oops:

The paint's in vgc overall and backs up the previous owners statement that it never went off road. He used it to commute ;)

The seat post on mine is 27.2mm but has a shim. Looks factory fitted to me as it doesn't want to come out and all the parts seem original. Theredchilli has had the same problem so might know the answer. He asked me to measure mine ages ago but I need to take the bike to my friends work to measure it and have not had chance yet. :oops:
 
Hi mate,

went on a punt with a 31.8 clamp (same as the front mech). Seems happy enough.

took it for one ride and decided it really isnt big enough for what i was hopeing to do, i'm 6ft 3 so really should ahve gone for a 21"... hence it went straight to the 98 classified.

Thought I'd update this one a bit. Soon after the other pics were taken we got an Orange Diva frame for our lass and the Clockwork donated all it's parts. Plan was to then build it back up with better spec. ;)

As you can see from the dates this didn't happen as quickly as expected. :facepalm:

Anyway, It sat in a box since 2012 and I toyed with selling it a few times but never got an offer that made selling worth while. Shoot forward to late 2014 and our family has grown but money is tight due to maternity pay coming to an end so I sold a few bits on the 5 29 (still got the frame though ;) ). I'd picked up a set of Fox forks a while back for the Clockwork so decided to build it up for a winter bike to tide me over until the 5 29 gets rebuilt.

I tried to build it up with retro Shimano DX parts inc thumbies matched to a more modern cassette but couldn't make it play well enough so ended up using modern kit. Pictures are from it's first run up at Gisburn with my pals new Parkwood. I'll do some better pics when I get chance.

It's certainly different to my 140mm 29" full suss bike :shock: I keep forgetting and getting myself in trouble but it's all good fun. Defo be keeping it and am thinking about collecting all the different Clockworks again. ;)

That looks nice chap. Must be quite a shock getting back on this after the 29er 5 though!

Not gatecrashing your lovely orange but out of interest how does your mate like his parkwood? (sorry)

You're not wrong! TBH I can't wait to build the 5 29 back up as this doesn't really like most of the rides I do but it is nice for a change. Can't get used to how 26" wheels get stalled so easily.

Mate has only had a few rides out on the Parkwood but likes it very much. It's a fair old change for him as he's come from a 29" rigid Inbred with Alfine but it ticks all the right boxes. I never liked RS Revelations but the new version on his are a leap forward. It's a bargain at £999 but he got it through B2W so at less then £800 he's made up. :D

Anyway, I kept number 3 until that summer and had built the 5 29 back up. I made some tweeks along the way but always felt I was squeezing myself on to it so split it and sold rather than leave it to rot in the garage. Shame really as the final build I did actually felt best of all and I had finally found the right combo. Only tried it once like that before it moved on.

Anyway, having sworn never to get a modern 26" again, especially in 1 1/8th I started to get the urge to build a long travel HT for bashing about on. That didn't happen in the end but having sold on my cross bike I'd had it in my head that I needed a HT with slicks for road/light off road use.

So what then pops up on ebay? Wine fueled bids ahoy and I am now back in the 2007 gang! :facepalm: :LOL:

This bad boy is 21" and fits like a glove. Having tried to convince myself since the late 80's that 18/19" was my size I have finally accepted that gates are for me. It's in superb condition with virtually all original components right down to the Nevegal tyres that still have the spines on! Not entirely sure what will happen to it but atm I'm thinking of changing the stem and bars for a shorter/longer combo and trying out the slicks that I still have in the garage that came off the bike on page one. I do have a full 10sp XT/SLX groupo in stock so may change to that but I'm not really convinced it needs it. In the long run I will change the forks but not any time soon.

Better pictures and progress reports to come. :D
