1999 Specialized M2 Comp turbo trainer bike?

This frame does deserve more justice and I will properly rebuild it at some point but at least it won’t be going out the house!

Been building this M2 Comp up as a turbo trainer bike for my dad, he’s been using my Cannondale Flash so I haven’t been able to ride it lol….let’s get started with the build thread!

Kinesis All-Terrain forks I picked up from Facebook marketplace for a bargain price of £15! These forks are awesome and have an uncut steerer so can sort of match the axle to top cap length with my Cannondale.

Also a bonus these forks are sub 1KG, pretty sure 886grams!

Drivetrain!

AGAIN I wanted to match the gear ratio with my Cannondale and I managed to fairly easily. Picked up a deore 2x10 groupset and BRAND NEW raceface cranks from @ishaw for a bargain price of £120

The turbo trainer is a direct drive Wahoo Kickr so didn’t need a cassette or anything.

Front wheel is just a lightweight Bianchi hub and Mavic 223 rim, was originally going to stick a 26 disc only (as I won’t be running brakes on this) Roval SL carbon but figured it would be too overkill and would be a shame due to it being NOS.

Rear wheel is the one from my Cannondale, had to whip the cassette of turbo stick it back on the wheel and put the rear wheel onto the bike too make it easier for setting up the gears.

I’ve surprisingly run out of gear cable and the ones that came with the shifters were to short.

Going to pick some up from the LBS tomorrow!

Thinking I might whip these forks off and replace with some on one inbred forks, after all it is only a turbo bike temporarily and those rigid mtb forks weigh 880 grams, will post some pics tonight.

Interesting to build specifically for the turbo trainer! The only advice I can offer (and I'm sure you're fully aware of this) is to make sure forks, stem, headset, etc. are well protected against sweat. With no breeze to cool you, you're going to be dripping good salty stuff all over the front of the bike. Don't ask how I know.

Yep all good, I have one of those Tacx sweat protector things you stick over the top tube, connects to the stem and Seatpost.
