1997 Vittorio Randonneur Restomod ... it's comfy...

Last year I bought this Vitttorio Randonneur frameset in Reynolds 501. Initially I wanted to build it into a hybrid with some fat Smart Sam tyres. Last week I changed my mind. Wednesday I assembled it as a touring bicycle, its original purpose. I got this nice Kalloy Uno stem to bring the bars level to the saddle. The rear wheel has been shoved way into the semi horizontal dropouts for maximum chainstay length. All to make it a very comfortable ride. It certainly is a lot more laid back than what I usually ride, but I do see more of what goes by. Which is nice. All the parts I used are new, except for the hubs which could be considered NOS. I don't make pics when I build a bike, because I get lost in the details and forget.

Parts list:

Frameset/Headset - Vittorio Reynolds 501 62cm/Tange
Wheels/Tyres - Ultegra 6500 hubs with H+Son tb-14 36 hole rims/Panaracer Gravel King 28mm Conti tubes

Seatpost/saddle - Kalloy/Brooks B17 Narrow
Brakes/Levers - Shimano BR-R353/Tektro FL540

Crankset/Chainring/Pedals/BB - Sugino Mighty Tour/Stronglight 38t/DMR V8/Shimano BB-UN55

Vittorio was a Dutch custom frame builder that started in 1936 in Alkmaar. Initially they built race frames they called La Strada. Later they mainly built touring bicycles. The company still exists in name only.
