Re: 1997 Kona Kapu

I didn't think it was 'loud' enough for a Kona paint job - it is certainly quite muted, but looks a lot better in the flesh. It has the appearance of something that's spent a lot of time sitting in a garage, but I'd definitely leave the paint well alone - it could be sorted with some effort. I wouldn't even touch anything up.

It's been a while type bump!

With some of the rarities making an appearance recently (97 Caldera, 96 Ku) perhaps there's hope for me yet...

Re: 1997 Kona Kapu

I have what I believe to be a '96, either a 56 or 57, don't really remember. Picked it up in New Orleans back in 2002 from a guy at the bike shop that built it up with a mix of campy record, chorus and veloce. With record hubs and velocity rims it weighs slightly over 17lbs. It's been good to me. Raced it for quite a few years and now just ride for fitness now. Probably has 10k miles on it by now.

Re:

Thanks for your post - indeed, that's a 96. And bar the stem / bars, looks quite original.

Just a year later, that's all I need
