It came from eBay - I think you might have shouted out the auction listing.
Did you catch this 58cm '98 Kapu on ebay.com? - absolute stunner.

Yep, see the preceeding mail!

Ah, so this one originally was the Kaput (previous owner had added a T, painted on), which was for sale for ages. The it was bought, travelled to the east coast and was split. So you managed to ship it over - well done! So why the sale? Too big? Too small?

Re: 1997 Kona Kapu

Seems strange to try and sell it after the £amount it took to get it - also it is exactly the right size and I have a really nice Campagnolo build all ready for it.

Two things made me decide not to build it:

I'm not a patina sort of a guy, but the condition of the bike is really too good to justify stripping the paint off. I wanted new paint, headset and threadless carbon forks, but when it arrived this seemed a bit heartless. It'd be better off with someone that would keep it original.

Also, after having never owned an Italian bike for all these years, I've finally bought one that has made all my other bicycles redundant. It seems pointless having a fleet of road bikes when there's only one I ever want to ride now, so I'm trying to thin down the number of road bikes I've got and build something that can see me through winter and some muddy riding (I've bought a Cotic X and a Traitor Ruben, one will stay and one will go!)

Fair do's and THANK YOU for not stripping it - they are rare enough as it is! I didn't think this was the best colour they ever did but it does look cool.
