How about, gulp, this?

Will my wrists cope?

Mike

Looks fine to me - just double wrap it (or there are I think gel inserts to use with tape for the serious long distance touring folk).

I have bar tape on one of my Scotts, Dave.

Single wrap with a piece underneath the wrap, across the top of the bar. Seems fine. However, there is the question of how to finish it off then, I normally use insulating tape, but on such a short grip, it may look a bit rubbish.

Re:

So, not much progress this weekend,

I polished up the stays that I'd painted, sadly too dark to get decent photos but I'm pleased with how it turned out. Wonder how long it will last.
Got the rear mech bolted on, and attempted to fit the matching front mech.

Failing miserably, I have now resigned myself to the fact I'll have to use the M737 Shimano one I found in the loft this evening.

To lift my spirits, I thought I'd put the chain on. A Sram one. Sadly, I had somehow broken a pin out of the powerlink that joins the ends together  Another one ordered

I surrendered at that point!

So next question, what colour cables? I think black is nice and neutral, white is a bit modern, maybe red. I'm contemplating it!

Your thoughts?

Mike

Oh! dear some times things tend to go hay wire which unfortunately theirs nothing we can do about it :( ..

Well black did kind of spring to mind for the cables and then i thought how about a silver or grey if possible but tbh if it were my choice i'd be tempted by one of these ,

Bought a grey set once. Didn't use it as it was cheap and nasty. Avoid.

Went with pukka jagwire ice grey by the metre.
