1994 Norco Rampage

Just need a longer spindle BB.

Without even knowing it, I did just that thing in the last score. New old UN54, 127 mm spindle
Now I gotta remember where I saw that crank, and hope they didn't sell it. I've only been thinking about it for a couple of months or years

I think the bike came with a black LX one stock. If you use that one at least replace the big ring with a silver one.

Strangely, the catalog text says Marzocchi, but the picture shows RockShox. Anarchy, chaos, disorder! I guess that means I have free reign to do as I want.

I lived with the BIL of the Norco product developer of that bike. It definitely came with a gold Marzocchi.

An early 90's Rampage *sigh*

So I picked one of those up a few years back. Was told it was a large (19.5) and didn't measure it. When I got it home and started riding it I figured out it was a medium (18.5) and even though it was a dream to ride, I stripped it and "sold" the frame (got hosed on the deal - I'm a dope).

Mine was pretty much factory correct except for the fork (some generic tange rigid replaced the long dead Marzocchi). Mix of LX and XT. I have looked for another one on CL locally over the years, but who am I kidding. I can't sort out the other more desirable frames I have out.

I love it when random facts like that pop up. Thanks for sharing your history with yours too. It really is a lovely piece of bicycle. That bulge in the seatpost, the fluted downtube, I'm really getting excited now that I am accumulating parts for it, and thus handling it again. Tubes ring like a bell when flicked, each section giving a different tone.

We always turned up our noses to bikes made in Japan and Taiwan BITD, but the guys at Norco knew what they were doing, the tube spec was right on and those factories in Taiwan had learned how to make frames as good as the Japanese by the 90's and the Japanese were building bikes that were competitive with the Europeans on quality in the 80's.

There have been rumblings in the distance, this may eventually turn into a bike build!! I've been picking up pieces here and there, thought I'd see where I'm at.

It's almost a complete bike now. Almost everything is new and unused, the fork and grips are the exception. Bar is a cheap Wake , so I won't feel any pain at cutting them down a bit, they're 720 mm, probably too wide for a 100 mm stem and bar end grips

Hopefully someone with bigger bike brain will be able to help me out. Will this un54 bottom bracket work with my bike
68/73 mm (BSA), 127mm, with fixing bolt. To go with Deore LX crank generously provided by @Ingola
Other, less happy option would be this un300, 68x110

127 is far too long for that crank.
The 110 is bang on.
