I got this off CL this weekend. It's a 1993 Specialized Hardrock Ultra, 20", cranberry/purple fade. The frame and the fork are in near mint condition. It has a GS200 drive train that is also in good condition. According to the German Specialized 1992 and 1993 catalogs, the HR Ultra had GS200 components in 1992, and moved to Altus A20 for 1993. The paint job on this bike is clearly from 2003, though the 2002 standard Hardrock seems to have a similar fade paint job to the 1993 Ultra? I'm not sure if this is an early model 2003 that still had GS200 or if this drive train was put on afterwards. My bet is this is an early model 2003 that came with 2002 specs. The rear wheel is not original, I believe the front wheel is, though it's missing some washers (original wheels were bolt on). The front wheel is a Sugino hub laced to what looks to be an Araya double wall rim as listed in the catalog. I should note, this old Sugino hub is really smooth! Additional original items include the HTI pedals, headset, stem, bar, and seat post, and front A20 brakes, and bottom bracket (rear brakes, and rear lever/shifter missing).
