1993 Answer Manitou System FS

In the past I've used "film" type lubricants for damperless forks with some success.
They're basically thick/sticky grease that add friction. It slows everything down and helps tame the bob.

sounds good. Any experience with Manitou front forks allready?

Very little, if I'm honest. I've had 1/2 dozen or so over the years but, never got deeper than changing damper cartridges. I'm more a Fox man.

Update

A little update;
The frame has been welded. Still got a ways to go on grinding/polishing.
The fork is rebuilt and ready to go;
I went with elastomers(instead of springs) as I'm going for a "stock"(ish) look and feel to the bike.

I finished the rear suspension today. This bike is sooo much fun!

Outstanding work there! I would be interested in seeing a piccie of two of the repaired cracks after the welding and before/after grinding, curiosity is getting me on this for some reason.

This is seriously making me want to get one of these, I think they are stunning.

welding update part one

Welding update part one;

Sadly, I forgot to take pictures after preping for welding.

All external welds were drilled at the crack termination point and channeled to 80% of tube thickness.
Headtube welds were done internally as well.
