1992 Saracen Conquest

Its a Conquest !!!!!!1
Looks just like the Conquest I had circa 91-92
Minus the Yellow-Blue graphics
Spec was Marzocchi Starforks
XT Groupset all the bits were Black anodized not polished
Grease ports on the hubs
XT Thumbies
Magura Brakes
Selle San Marco Regal saddle
Ritchey rims and Z-max tyres
Ill find some photos

I am going to see how it goes when all mounted up with correct steerer as to whether it needs some extra work as the old alloy is easily torn.

Yes its been a long time with this, whilst I come to terms that it may never be ridden again ! Its been hung in garage for a while as the repair I had done did not hold
After the 1992 catalogue appeared I could not believe my eyes when what I thought I had was a KILI Elite has been proven to be a Conquest. I just had to try to get this frame sorted.
But there is news
The Saracen frame came on a little trip to Newquay with me on Monday where I passed it to a work colleague who happens to be an aluminum specialist, he has spent a lot of time and effort with major surgery, The frame cracks that appeared after the 1st attempt were painstakingly gouged and whatever to lots of trips to the welder, grinding, more welding and here it is, it has been over welded at the lower part of head tube to create some reinforcement.
I have pressed the headset into place this avo and "holy cow" its not cracked, I could not resist fitting all the parts off the Muddy Fox along with some newly acquired silver rims and like new WTB Velociraptors, I was so excited along with my 7 year old son we had tp go for a blast. It rides really well considering and I will do some more tweaks at the weekend. I will try it as it is for the moment and if the headtube holds, if it does then I will get it re-finished.
Here you go, I hope its worth it ............. I just cant stop looking at it :roll:
And no that is not a crack along the headtube front, The camera has picked up a filing line

Been for another spin today and headtube is still uncracked so fingers crossed its been cured

Top job Gravy Monster. Love the design of these, and it must be a real buzz to ride something you've pulled back from the brink. Reckon a respray and new decals would make it look showroom fresh.

Thanks for your comments chaps , I am going to keep it as is for a month or two just to make sure headtube stays crack free, The current finish is a rock hard Saracen powercoat which is bombproof to say the least !
I kinda like the current "rat look" with the burns to say that Ive had it repaired coz its worth it look
