Morning all!

I have been awake since before 6am this morning when my dog started barking. She is usually very good at staying quiet until my getting up time at 8am so this was a little annoying.
I got up, let her out she went out into the garden and about 2 minutes later she started barking to be let in. I let her in and went back to bed.
She started barking again after five minutes so I got up again and let her out again...rinse and repeat several times and the end result is me up at 6.45, cold and bored with a cup of tea and this rascal looking a little guilty. IMG_1927.webp

So I was now officially up and bored. But then I thought one should never allow oneself to be bored when there is a bike in the workshop waiting to be attended to...

Here it is above, ready and waiting on the stand (apologies for the appalling photo...it was early and my eyes take a while to start working in the morning these days)

So I decided to take it apart and see what had been hanging up, unloved in my garage for several years.

20 minutes later... IMG_1914.webp

I had left the BB and headset until after a coffee break. To be continued...

Never taken one of these off before...wish me luck.

Oh that was easy!

Now for the BB...these usually make me cry.

But it was very easy...amazing what a useful thing grease is! And this little gadget was so handy in the olden days. IMG_1926.webp

So here we are and it's not even 7.45 yet! The chain is not knackered so I will probably reuse. It's not showing 75% wear, I prefer to leave it in company with the cogs and rings it has been intimate with over the last 35 years!
Now I will spend a day or so inspecting, polishing and fixing to see what we end up with.
Luckily apart from the rear tyre it looks 100% original and, finger scrossed nothing needs replacing that I can see....yet!
