Couldn't think of a better way to start the weekend than by unpacking this :) :

Not planning a period-correct catalogue-spec'd build, but this is what it looked like 23 ( :!: ) years ago..

Re: 1991 Easton CDT REFLEX

I like that a lot.
I would add a splash of mango anno to that.

Re: 1991 Easton CDT REFLEX

Thanks :D .

Is there anyone who knows more about these frames, such as whether these have a serial number somewhere?
And, in contrast to what's on the catalogue page, the steerer tube on my frame is 1", not 1 1/8".

Feedback appreciated!

Re: 1991 Easton CDT REFLEX

i have the same frame but i think mine is 1 1/8 .

basically , Reflex was Easton own brand . But other manufacturers ( Easton tubes clients ) got upset at Easton making their own frame . so they sold the brand . Peugeot , Grisley and Look have similar model .

for info, the downtube on your frame , C9 is what the Yeti C26 is made of .

Re: 1991 Easton CDT REFLEX

reminds me a little bit of the alan/british eagle collaboration

Re:

After (temporarily) quitting the restoration of the Manitou 1's in frustration -caused by a stubborn, stuck lower cup washer (and lower elastomer) in the left leg of those old forks-, I decided to proceed 'rigid' and to dress up the frame with Tange Ultralight forks and some other bits I have lying around..

Here's what it looked like before the mailman arrived this early afternoon  :

Lovely, shiny FC-M730's..

And during assembly, the bell rang, announcing the arrival of another few parts for this project :D

PD-M737's and a white 89 Turbo saddle:

Personally, I'm happy with the way it looks..! Still curious to see it with functional M1's :) .

One thing I'm wondering though is whether the slightly long steerer tube of the Tange forks need to be cut, or that the bit of extra thread can stay on. Do I need to use spacers then? Any advice is welcome and appreciated!

The plan is to finish the build with black LX (M567). Not sure about the wheels, but for now those are Mavic M238's on black LX hubs. Just discovered that those WTB Velociraptors are probably not going to survive a single ride, so I will need to replace those as well

Have a great weekend. E.

Some slight adjustments still have to be made, but it's a lovely ride.
Climbs very well, descending is a bit tricky; only have myself to blame for that though: I have to get used to rigid forks  .

Thanks for looking  !

Re:

Great to see this model Reflex on the trail again. Always one of my favorites. Use to ride with a buddy that had one if these in the early nineties. Good job. Too bad the Manitou isn't working out.
