1989 RM Thunderbolt (Tig welded) Part 2

Re:

That is very, very nice. Nothing not to like about it! Love the paint and the stem combo!

Re:

I notice in the previous thread it does not have the stem and fork. How did you get them?

Does this bike have a TXXXX series number?

As in a T and 4 digits.
series number is 4 digits but no `T'.

Interesting. I ran into a guy the claimed to work at Rocky Mtn in the late 80s and early 90s. Nice guy, but you never know when people are blowing smoke.

He was talking about the early years of RM, Brodie, and stuff. He said most of the in house frames (Tantalus, T-Bolt, and Blizzard Slope) were all 4 digit between 1987-1990ish and sequential. My Blizzard Slope has a T in front of it - T0032 I think. Anything made in Japan had the long code.

He also mentioned that the early blizzard was a bit of a screw up from a planning/$$$ making standpoint, which seems to be why there are not that many around.

Anyway, I figure you must have a 100 RMs now so you've got a large enough sample to see if any of that is true :)

all i got from vintageman was the frame and some misc. parts.
which was fine, i don't do suspension much.
the stem and fork were harvested from a lesser model
rocky of similar vintage. had toxik harald paint to match.
i think he did a pretty good job of it. i prefer this look
to the suspension fork.

Wow! The paint is great match! Very nice build!
I really have to get my Thunderbolt back together...I picked up an old RS1 for mine, but your bike looks nice with the rigid fork I might have to go that way too.

Nice to see that again Roy

I agree with Roly and KofF re the tyres.....can't stand the bloody things but they don't look half bad there
