Bought this for a friend who needs a small frame, up to now she has been riding a womans 5spd step threw. So we figured a 10spd small mans bike would be better.

Paid a princely sum of £27 for it, looking like this

Striped it back to a bare frame and cleaned it up, the only new parts its had are cables, tyres & tubes and bar tape. New decals shuld be here this week.

Its come up pretty well if you ask me.

Re: 1987 Raleigh Equipe

Always nice to see a Raleigh Equipe spruced up! Looks very nice, keeping the main paint job intact. Here's the link to mine: viewtopic.php?t=231594
Was just out on it this morning, rides beautifully.

Re: 1987 Raleigh Equipe

Nice bike Meejoir, it was important for this one to stay in its classic grey and white colour. The person its for doesn't know she's getting it and she and her fella are very much about keeping the bikes as they were. Parts and colours.

Once the decals arrive its finished.

Re: 1987 Raleigh Equipe

New decals have arrived.

I sent my guy these:

And he sent me these back a few days later:

Well pleased

Re: 1987 Raleigh Equipe (new declas arrived 7th Oct)

That's pretty darn good! Which company did you use? That Equipe is going to look better than the day it left the shop.

Amazing what a bit of love (and elbow grease) can do - I though that was a respray at first glance!

Re: 1987 Raleigh Equipe (new declas arrived 7th Oct)

Thanks guys, yep just a good old strip down and clean up. Only new parts fitted are, tyres & tubes, bar tape, inner brake cable and gear cables along with the new decals.

And now its all fnished.

Handing it over to its new owner later tonight, hope the like it as much as I do.

And I hope you all like it, oh and it was Delcals that I used for the decals.

Positively glows! As much as I love a complete bare-metal resurrection, with welding, a bucket of new parts and rescue from the brink of oblivion (who doesn't? :D ), sometimes it's really nice to see a fairly simple job done well. And I'd say that's done really well!

Fingers crossed it's new owner loves it too!

I second what ^^elPedro666^^ says - sometimes it can be done very successfully without much other than hard work. I seem to have a natural instinct to 'Campagnate' every refurb I start (!) but this is just lovely. Top job, very well done.
