1986 Fisher Mt. Tam

So, back again for some drooling :)
I want to clean my Muddy soon, and you did a great job, how did you do it?
Did you take it all apart? Did you use some polish stuff?
It shines like hell, so am curious...

Hello Jamis Diablo,

Thanks for looking. There was not much to getting this bike to look like it does. It sat stored indoors for it's life so there was no sun discoloration and there is no rubbing through the finish from ride wear. Just a general layer of air residue, film of light dust and tackyness. I wiped it with simple green and buffed with a clean towel. I did separated out some things, cranks/rings/pedals/brakes to get to the nooks and crannies and I power washed the tires to get rid of a light film within the nobbies. I think I just got it on a good day for picts. and the general unused condition did the rest.

Looks just like mine did when I bought it from a guy with a shop in Camino Ca back in '86. Mine was bilt by Tom Teesdale (RIP) BB #19T94 I still have it but, (SIGH) just above the bottom bracket I got a couple bubbles in the paint a while back. Turns out its some sort of corrosion right at the weld seams. Made me scared to ride it anymore. I swapped all the parts over to a same sized Stumpy frame. I keep kicking around the idea of having a frame builder here in town try to fix the Fish, but that would be the end of the paint job.. what to doo??

Hello Everyone,
Find following pictures of my 1986 Fisher Mt. Tam. The seller was the original owner who said he had less than a handful of rides on it, and it shows. A few nicks here and there, very slight chains rub, but mostly great to excellent condition. I’m cleaning off a layer of storage dust and grime and will share a spec list and more pictures as I work through it if anyone is interested in seeing more.

Re: some pictures.. UGH!

Here are a couple shots .. The paint job on my Tam is different tho.. same color.. but just different logo etc and it never said Mt Tam anywhere on the frame.

Re: Here is my 1986 Mt. Tam

Great Thread. My 1986 Mt Tam is #20T69. I thought it was Teesedale crafted. Would love to see a serial number with TT if they exist.

Re:

Some Details. Look like there are a few scuffs and paint touchups. I removed the stickers and have some Fisher FatTrax heading my way.
