a year later... yep I was confusing xc pro levers with the ritchey logics which ARE like ss7s but yes pure wrong

Just (this morning) swapped out some depressing stx pods for some SS7s and xc pro 8 speed thumbs - working very nicely indeed over a shimano 7 speed block with a long cage stx rc mech (the next item that needs swapping...) They have a nicer more positive click that the Deore XTs and are...

Interesting to note that the stif ad says there is only a half pound difference in weight between the prestige and clockwork... Perhaps the prestige feels a bit more nippy (never ridden one) but not as much diff weight wise as I'd have expected. Maybe I'll hold off bidding on that ebay...

i agree - nothing spoils the look of a bike more :evil: some of the cable outers are insanely long too, will give it a proper sort v soon

1991 is definitley 1" re the steerer length it depends on the frame size and headset stack height - mine is a 21" 1992 and the stack height is approx 180mm from race to top with a standard shimano headset... better to go longer obv as you can space it/cut it later Hope that helps
