    JIS 1" Threadless Headset

Re: I now have an ETC silver headset - just what I wanted. Its the correct dimensions - but a very tight fit, looking at it. I'm a bit worried that I may not be able to replace the lower bearing in future though because its a caged needle roller device. The upper seems to be regular caged balls.

    JIS 1" Threadless Headset

Re: There is an offer at Tredz on 1" ECT headsets and these would appear to be JIS if 22.2/30/27 means what I think it means - and they are very reasonably priced - the better one having a water seal. Graham

1980 Claud Butler tourer needs more gears

Re: I fitted a 6 speed to my old Falcon but had to re-dish the wheel, put a bigger spacer on the spindle and widen the rear forks from 120mm to 126mm. It's still not great with six speeds and 28t rear freewheel so I shall rebuild the wheel with a freehub hub and use an 8 speed cassette. I...

    Work Stand Reccomendations.

Re: Park stuff is well regarded and will no doubt last forever but this seems either to bolt to the floor or requires a 30kg steel plate. Not one for the kitchen then :(

    Work Stand Reccomendations.

Re: I bought a repair stand for about £30. It has a large plastic clamp, folding legs (4) and the clamp can be extended horizontally so the cranks miss the upright. handy for getting the gear cable tension right. It probably isn't as good as a professional stand costing several hundred £, but...

    Number plates on bikes? Really?

Well I can't fault your choice of car make and I could do with a better bike.............

    Number plates on bikes? Really?

Cycle paths; I remember before all cars had laminated screens numpty drivers were in the habit of knocking out the glass of broken screens on the nearest cycle track. Then car drivers would all honk when you diverted onto the road to avoid punctures. In those days I found that truck and bus...

two 7 speed chains wanted *CHEAP

I've seen very mixed reviews for Taya chains but maybe they are OK for a bike which doesn't get a lot of use? I just paid 87p for a Taya 5-8 spd chain and £2.24 for a 9 spd chain at Wilko. I figured that at those prices they were worth trying. I also bought a Slime inner tube, to see if they...

Re: Thanks Bruce, I did click around that area before but nothing happened. I have had another go just now and hey presto - it worked. Thanks very much Graham

How can I vote on the rBOTM?

I see that there have been no votes for a day or two - but I can't work out how to vote. It can't be by posting to the topic because there are more votes than replies. I am logged in BTW. Can some kind person enlighten me please? Graham

Re: Raleigh Titanium My vote goes to the Mike Muz 67s 1993 Raleigh Dyna Tech Titanium because it looks great. But how do I actually vote?

    Anyone recognise this Falcon?

The rivets holding the badge on my 1976 Falcon Olympic are 58.5mm apart; in case that helps. I have the wrap around stays but the lugs are much less fancy (basic bike). I have a second very basic Falcon with similar simple lugs on the forks though.

Folding bicycle preferably a raleigh twenty

I was going to try to fit the folding bars from a Bickerton to make it more compact but, since I have a big car I can get my road bike in so haven't used it much.
