clearout (yes again!)-quite a few nice bits MORE ADDED 04/07

Re: If it's still available, I'd like the rear mech. My old LX one committed suicide in the spokes of my rear wheel spectacularly yesterday.

Where to buy RAL paints and dealing with rust.

I wasn't sure where to post this, but people with older bikes are more likely to have needed paint, I suppose, so... I have a GT Tequesta which has been powder-coated RAL 2009 (orange). I cleaned it today and found that the bit that goes between the chain stays has rusted and the coating is...

BIG SALE All new prices, offers and swaps!

Also, while we're at digging up ancient sale threads: do you still have the high rise GT stem? Looks like the way I have my adjustable stem set, except not adjustable, which is a good thing.

Ever bought your dream bike and it wasn't all that?

I've done the opposite. I have a not really special in any way but very nice Trek hardtail that I put together to replace my previous much loved well travelled bike which was stolen out the back of a van (still miss that bike)... I decided I also needed a 'pub bike' so bought a tatty old GT...

    Poor quality work?

If you're planning on getting it refinished because it's so shoddy anyway, why not scrape some paint off and see whether they really stripped it?

What do we think of bells.

I have exactly that bell, rose and all, except mine says "Woodrup Cycles, Leeds". It's somewhat incongruous on my orange GT mountain bike but I like it.

1998 18" Lava Dome fork length query

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301080815543 is the actual item I bought. There's one not especially enlightening photo there, and I can take some more when I'm home after the weekend if you're interested. I've now got 400mm forks on my 1998 steel GT which seem ok so far, maybe a bit short but I...

Re: massive clearout LOOK even more added The classified rules do say to leave the prices up after items are sold, by the way.

1998 18" Lava Dome fork length query

Have you seen this thread? viewtopic.php?f=1&t=287817 Might be useful. Also, I have some (slightly scuffed but never used) 440 a-c disc and V compatible P2s bought in error for (iirc) £65 inc postage, if that turns out to be what you're looking for...

You may well be correct. Maybe someone round here knows what they're talking about and can set us both straight.

massive clearout LOOK even more added REDUCED

Re: massive clearout LOOK all prices now inc postage Isn't there something about leaving the prices up after things are sold? About the Toras - what model? How long is the steerer?

Avid BB7 Disc brakes and SD5 levers (SOLD)

Finally fitted the rear. Both of the adaptors are front 180 - was that intentional? I've used the rear one with an existing 160mm rear Shimano adaptor but had to saw off the end of the sticky out tab on one of the pads to stop it catching. But anyway, ta. Top brakes.

    Rigid/Suspension axle-crown/travel correction exasperation.

Re: Rigid/Suspension axle-crown/travel correction exasperati Think that steerer is a bit on the short side but I might get away with it. I'll check when I'm back home in Sheffield on Monday (or ish).

Re: Rigid/Suspension axle-crown/travel correction exasperati Cool, absolutely no rush, just didn't want to seem meh. We also lost 4 fence panels and some of a greenhouse on Wednesday night. Mad innit.

    Rigid/Suspension axle-crown/travel correction exasperation.

Re: Rigid/Suspension axle-crown/travel correction exasperati I should mention in case it's useful to anyone who finds this thread, I started essentially the same thread on Singletrackworld forum, and a helpful chap called letmetalktomark posted this: Seems a useful rule of thumb type guide...

    Rigid/Suspension axle-crown/travel correction exasperation.

Re: Rigid/Suspension axle-crown/travel correction exasperati I did have Mosso aluminium forks on before, but decided not to trust them as they bowed so much when I braked, hence the steel ones I'm using now.
