    chain ring wear

New chains are inexpensive compared to expensive chainrings, and cassettes/freewheels. Replace the chain twice a year if you ride often in old blighty weather or yearly otherwise. The expensive bits will last MUCH longer!

    Hub ID please

Greetings; Appears to be M-730, however I don't believe there was much difference. I have been riding on those hubs for over 20 yrs. and three rim replacements. Overhaul them yearly and once in awhile shoot some grease into them and they will last forever or at least till 21 December when...

Why epoxy in frame tubing “weep holes”?

The holes also allow internal condensation to dry after a cold frame is returned to the house after a winter ride. I treat my steel frames with Frame Saver or Boeshield during major overhauls. Cheers

    94 Kona Explosif owners

27.0 unfortunately, as 27.2 posts are easier to find. I have in the past reamed out seat tubes with internal roughness and in some cases the next size post could be fitted. If no internal problems exist search for a 27.0 post. IMHO Kona's are wonderful bikes, especially any Explosif!!!

Question...how much should a wheel flex...

Question...how much should a wheel flex...

Question...how much should a wheel flex...

Greetings; A well built wheel with proper spoke tension should have no discernable side to side flex. I suspect your hub bearings require adjustment if it's not the spokes. Cup and cone bearings are simple to adjust, however loose sealed bearings often need replacement. Check out youtube...

    Square Taper Round Off Prevention

Make certain the fitting holes on the arms as well as the BB axle flats are clean and dry. Use some copper anti-sieze on the fitting bolt threads and then tighten it as tight as you can(not gorilla tight) just human tight. I've been wrenching cycles since the dawn of time(60's) and never seen...

    Correct chain advice needed.

I believe IG(slightly narrower than HG) chains will shift the best on any 7speed cassette as well as any 800 series Sram or 8sp KMC chains. I do however think Shimano chains shift the best of all, by a small margin. If you ride often, replace the drive chain yearly, it will cut tooth wear to...

    xc pro hub service.

If you have side to side play in the wheel then it's not in the freehub, only the hub bearings. Pull the cassete and overhaul the hub bearings or if your hubs are in fact XC Pro then inject grease into the hub through the Grease Guard ports, adjust the bearings and you are done! The new grease...

    I love 29ers!

We don't need heavier, weaker wheels. I see more 29er wheels for work in the shop lately than I ever did for 26" wheels.
