Yeah I was figuring along the same lines. Also with prices taking an absolute nose dive... might be something to never build fully, for now at least.

What do you think the price on something like that should be? I've been putting off a P7 build of that year with that XT spec for a while because it would end up being in that price range.

Ah man that sounds very fair indeed but that’s the 97 crown 😔 97 had a cutout for a lever whereas the 98 that I have is level all round and has a dial instead.

Hey folks Trying to revive a seriously neglected RC36. The crown had one snapped bolt in and one seized bolt in. I’ve managed to get the seized bolt out but drillling out the snapped bolt didn’t go well. So… anyone got a spare crown? Pics attached but it’s the 1998 RC36 Evo model. Cheers Mark

Well - finally got round to editing the build video: The only thing really left to do to get it rolling is repair / replace the rear shock. So if anyone has a working 200x50mm shock or similar I might be interested. I have checked with Slick and Slide who said they couldn’t service it but...

Oh that’s awesome! Amazing find! Is there any more photos of it? The bottom bracket I pulled out of mine was an XT from mid 90s I think. If that gear is right on the bike it looks I got the right age.

There are some more goodies on the way but I thought I’d add some of what I have so far. It’s going to be an 8 speed XT build. The frame is for Vs so that’s what we’ve gone with. Instead of using the STi units I found the separate M008 shifters though. I do have XT hubs too along with Mavic...

So this is what it should be. The seal fits really snug on the crown race so I’m reckoning it’s a very specific part to fit everything correctly unfortunately
