    Paul Donohue 51cm Campag 532

More light tourer / audax / clubman than racer but looks nice. It doesn't seem an outrageous price to me.

Wanted M563 middle chainring and 31.8 front mech

Got a black LX front, very tidy. I also have a very clean 1" black threaded headset, nothing special (might be Tange Levin) but new IIRC. I'll do some photos.

Wanted Campy triple braze-on FR mech

Got a Mirage Triple front if any use. Say £5 plus postage.

Please help me identify this bike.

That extra sleeve around the seat tube top is very early-90s. The cast bottom bracket shell looks nice. I'm wondering if it's an early Orange Clockwork. Knowing where you are would help - Orange would be unlikely outside the UK.

    Humanity's 10 greatest inventions: the other 9?

A few that haven't come up: The number Zero Insurance (the basis of all modern trade) Lenses (so many discoveries cascade from them) The Davy lamp (saved countless lives, along with sanitation and vaccination and allowed the Industrial Revolution) Radio

One other thought: Dawes Edge, a great bike to ride, massively underrated. I love my Edge 653.

Interesting • drugs and PDM •

😂 😂 😂 That being the same Fausto Coppi who when asked 'do you dope' said 'Only when the pain gets too bad.' 'How often is that?' 'Every day' People are doping in all sports even at amateur level sadly.

    Dynamo light and charger insight

All dynamos are misnamed and in fact alternators, as @gilmo789 says. That DIY charger uses a linear regulator which isn't great on efficiency. I'd also want to heatsink it. The ebay modules use some kind of switch mode or flyback converter which are much more efficient. I'll report back on the...

Where can I find 7/8s chainrings that will fit M900 and LX BCD110?

The inside dimensions of 7,8,9 speed chain links are essentially the same so the chainring teeth are also the same dimensions.

    Dynamo light and charger insight

    Honestly it’s not noticeable.

    Dynamo light and charger insight

Frankly I never noticed a difference. It’s less than the difference between a clean or dirty chain, or tyre pressure.

    Cantilever Brake Masterclass

And that's the point - with so much variation in frame design, canti boss spacing etc, most people have no idea what length they need and the odds are they will get it wrong. The type with a button and a section of outer (whose length can be trimmed) are much better and they avoid the flaw of...

    Dynamo light and charger insight

I've run them for more than a decade. I need to do an update on my setup in another thread. Personally when touring I always take lights - I've had several occasions when transport delays and other problems have led me to be riding in the dark unplanned. Generally this is a dynamo. The problem...

Best vintage rear derailleur (thats fairly easily available) for friction

I'd go M730/735 XT, simply because long cage is easily available and you will probably need one for a triple.

    3DV Purple on a 95 bike?

Some is good, more is better, too much is about right. Enjoy, but just make sure it's not everything. The 'ano puked all over it' look isn't great - in the same way that the modern 'everything black' trend looks dreadful too.

    3DV Purple on a 95 bike?

Marin was doing purple on its bikes in 1995. So it's totally contemporary.

Middleburn cranks / bb width q?

Typically it's 113 for a square taper Middleburn RS7. I sometimes got trouble with some front mechs - typically the Shimano low-band type - which can need a longer BB for the mech to reach the inner chainring reliably.
