Me too! Looking forward to seeing the transformation! Shame about you not getting on with vinegar, it's great with rust!

    My bikes.

I know your game, you've bought a doppelganger in much better nick and that will be used for the grand reveal! 🤣 Vinegar and aluminium kitchen foil are your friends with chrome. Looking forward to seeing some GIGFY magic on this one...

Neon Retro Local Motion 80's 90's frame bag

I wonder how long the pros left those pads on their bikes after the photo shoot ended!!! 🤣

I am amazed those Shimano push-push STI's are still working after 40K. Amazing paint on that! 😍

Good luck finding some chrome under that rust! 😬 At least the logo on the back of the saddle is in good nick 👌 This is a bike where embracing patina will be key! ;)

    Review 1988 Donovan Prototype

Interesting just press fitting a drilled steel plate inside the tubes without any welding? My Slingshot has a steel plate inserted into the seat tube to help resist torsional loads thanks to missing the down tube ( 🤪 ) but that's been spot welded in position.

    Show us your OFF-ROAD TOAD

Call is hearsay, but i heard it was because Canadian frame builders didn't like to use spirit levels and Canadian riders have big balls so any additional clearance was always welcome! ;) Thanks for resurrecting @Retro_Roy , look forward to this thread growing!😍

    P7 orange rust

Never under estimate the power of kitchen foil! Can also use vinegar & foil. Followed by a liberal spray of WD40/GT85 and wipe clean with soft cloth, or a wax & polish

Hog Tie them Tresspassing E bikers : )

We got shot at (suspect they were just warning shots) by the local village farmer as we crossed his land to get to what we called the quartz mine. My older brother ended up marrying his daughter! 🤣 He was a bit of a hard case at times. Also been dragged off my bike along with a friend cycling...

    Specialized Hardrock 1988?

I'd leave the decals. Patina is perfection in my eyes. Just a good clean, T-Cut & polish (avoid the decals with the T-Cut!) and that frame will clean up lovely. Guess you have a choice with what you want to do with the stem. Get an old 1" BMX quill stem, or get a convertor quill with 1" to 1...

    Specialized Hardrock 1988?

Great news they are 26”, they did look 26”, but mine looks so different due to frame size I wasn’t 100% certain. Indeed with the riser/bmx/motoX bars this will ride like a large BMX and will be perfect for what you want to use it for. Certainly not the lightest, but uber cool. Must have been...

    Specialized Hardrock 1988?

I'm 5' 7" but can ride the giant 22.5" frame with the seat low down. Not sure yours is 24", doesn't look it, but if it is, you won't be able to just swap with 26" as you probably won't have the frame/fork clearance and the brakes won't offer enough adjustment/clearance to accept a bigger wheel...

    Specialized Hardrock 1988?

100% keep all the old parts! 👍 Just ask me any questions in this thread as it will help inform people what to do, plus you'll get more help rather than just direct messaging me. We're a friendly bunch on here. Some forums can be scary and very judgy, we're generally not! There's no such thing...

    Rudge with sidecar

It hurts my legs just thinking about it!!! Plus you can't ride it in/through traffic. Insane pricing/estimate, must have reference eBay for pricing?! 🤔 Maybe someone with more money than sense can buy it and cycle it along their long gravel driveway and then put it away in the corner of the 6...
