I've decided to put my freshly powder coated ARC up for sale, it's taken me ages to build up but I have and it's just too small :cry: anyway moneys tight at the moment so it has to go! I bought it a year ago from the origional owner who had a reciept from 95 but thinks it was a 94 frame...

Pay the extra and get a King, one of mine is now 17 years old and still going strong on my very regularly used singlespeed, every other headset I've tried on other bikes has died within 2 years!

I believe they were made by litespeed but might be wrong? Yes they were 3/2.5 with 6/4 dropouts. Be careful welding Ti any oxygen in the weld will make it really brittle!

They should work together and you can also use road bb if you're struggling for spares.

Yep that's my frame, I bought it as an 18" and that's what I thought it was until last night! I've never built it up due to a few personal things going on and now I could do with moving it on to make room for my new singlespeed and to fund my Yeti ARC build, I was gonna put paragon machine works...

That stems a good un as is the seatpost! And yes some of the last of the good stems came with the useless plastic top caps, I had one from new.

It'll be either 26.8 or 27.0,depeding on the individual frame it seems from experiance! Then later ones were 27.2

So, do both you have Jones frames? What do they ride like? I have a set of Titec Jeff bars and really like em :D

But for the price he charges you'd like to think the name of the guy on the frame actually built it, he's deffinately not alone in doing this though!

Does Jeff Jones actually build frames? I heard Merlin or someone were building his Ti spaceframes, might not be true though. They do seem a bit over hyped to me but wouldn't mind a go on one just to see!

Nah, early U brakes didn't have a booster and the amount of flex was scary, even on the chainstays! So shimano fitted a booster and manufacturers realised that the chainstays maybe weren't the best place to mount a brake! Try and get a rollercam brake if possible, much better than a U brake and...

An RTS3 will be made from 7005 aluminium alloy so could be welded, I'd just shrink fit a collar on though and then look for a new frame, it is a GT after all :wink:

As has been said 2:1 is the best starting point, I run 32/17 which is perfect for me but..... As for tensioners and stuff, try your rockhopper then once you're hooked it'll be time for a sliding dropout/ebb frame! Best looking/performing chainset I've used on a ss yet is my custom XTR M960...

As has been said already your knees don't have any fat covering them to protect them from the cold so even though you don't realise it leaving them bare in cold weather isn't doing them any good, I always wear leg/knee warmers if it's less than 15 degrees but I have had knee surgery in the past...
