Well I've got 1 decent pair that appear to have little wear, not a top name or anything though. They have "Tracer 170" stamped inside the crank arms and the rings are permanently attached, These being 28, 38, and 48 teeth.
Well to be honest I thought I might hear from the road bike afficianados on this one!!! I mean a '95 Tour de France embroidered saddle for a retro road bike project ................
I believe them to be the original levers as it had these on when I got it but the rear is broken where the gear shifter attaches and it had a seperate shifter added.
Also the whole groupset on this bike is Exage ES.
Thanks heaps for all your help Fluffy Chicken, now I finally have something to aim at Although I feel this frame will be built up in a number of different ways as I search for original spec parts.
Okay, rims were odd but just scored another front wheel that will need to be stripped down and the rim laced onto my original rear hub to give me a matching pair of Araya VP-20 rims (as original ) on original hubs. Only a couple of parts to find and then I'm away and all will be as original...
   Damn!!! thought I was on the retro bike forum!!!! Can anyone tell me where to find the experts on past mountain bikes then??
Seriously though, thanks for pointing out my mistake, now maybe I can get some feedback on the real question.
Finally found my sliding calipers !!! The frame downtube has a diameter of 44mm and when tapping along its length it sounds almost tunefull in the middle whereas at each end it changes to a quite dull sound, this is also the case with all the other tubes.
I was looking at a full retro build hence trying to correctly identify the frameset and then to get the original specifications for the bike ( assuming after polishing I dont get itchy to build and ride lol).
I thought it was the later models of Indian Fire Trail that had the CNC'd chainstay. A local cycle shop has informed me that in '92/ '93 the same frame was used on Nail Trail, Indian Fire Trail and Team Issue and that is was the components attached that differ.
