    Stars and Bars Hot USA

Very true! I agree with it possibly being a mid season build... or maybe the boys at Velographics were a little high on paint fumes when putting this one together.

    Stars and Bars Hot USA

Re: Hmmm... '96 headtube decal. '97 toptube decal spaced a little far back. The thumb sticker on the seat tube is high up on the seat tube. Top tube cable routing (hydro brakes?). I think it's legit, but a very different configuration. I'm still watching it :D

Re: Kona HOT 1994 Build in progress ... Looking great so far!!

    Kona Sex One value !

Well... I'd say it's worth putting the seat post on the correct way plus maybe $200 (US dollars).

2004 Independent Fabrication Steel Deluxe Singlespeed

That's a great/solid build you have there. Don't worry about hubs or skewers; just ride it! Thomson stuff is great and I would just ride it now :D

    1996 Kona Hot Stars-n-Bars

I did. They were pretty beat up so I used various levels of sand paper/polish and elbow grease.

    1996 Kona Hot Stars-n-Bars

Thanks for the compliments everyone! It is such a fun bike to ride. The current setup is a little different than the pics. It now has a xtr m910 seat post and a different stem/handlebar. The Ritchey stem was just too creaky and flexed too much even though it looks good.

Kona Cinder Cone Race Lite - Not sure of year?

1996. Don't paint it! Just clean and maybe polish/wax. You'll be suprised at how nice it will look.

    1997 Kona Hot Seattle USA

No. I got the red '96 off of US ebay about a year and a half ago. It came with the SID that's on my daughter's bike. I was surprised when I won the auction at $185! I run it as a singlespeed (I'm in the middle of a gear swap right now, that's why it's missing a chainring and chain).

    1997 Kona Hot Seattle USA

Hmmmmm.......I can't do 30 days of Kona. Maybe 3 days and 2 more days in the 1998+ section. I should probably put these pics in another section other than Marketplace Watch but here's a couple blurry pics of what I have. 3 Hots Rove Kula 2-4

    1997 Kona Hot Seattle USA

Yep, that's my bike! I really enjoyed having this bike, but it is just simply too small for me. I fit the 18-19" Kona's much better. I want to try and sell it locally for now. If it doesn't sell then I'll look into different options such as breaking the build up and shipping. Now, if I lived...

KONA...make over for the old girl "explosif " content

WOW  I just skimmed through your thread. That seems like it was quite the ordeal! The Hot is doing quite well. I will admit that it sees more time as a "ride around the neighborhood with the kids" bike than a singletrack thrasher. Again, good job with that Explosif!

KONA...make over for the old girl "explosif " content

Looks good, Ernie! The new look seems visually cleaner. As a side note, I'm glad to see the lights/reflectors on your commuter. I run my lights on the road whether day or night. It really makes a difference in visibility and how I'm treated by motorists.

    Kona A'ha 1997

Re: Knowing me knowing you - (Kona) A'ha! (1997) Very cool bike! I can confirm that the stars and bars on my '96 Hot are indeed painted. It looks like white was shot on the front part of the frame and then the stars and bars were masked. After that the blue/red fade was applied and then the...

    Who's got a 29'er?

Neil M If you are curious and have the $$$'s then buy a 29er. I have 26", 650b, and 29" bikes. I am not slower or faster on any of them because they are set up right. In my opinion, a well set up bike trumps wheel size every time (you have a hei hei right?). I will say that my 29er has...

650b/27.5 Anyone running these on a 26" frame?

I've been quite pleased with my 650b conversion. The difference is subtle but noticeable. It raised my bottom bracket around half an inch but the extra height is actually a good thing for me. My favorite riding areas are full of rocks and roots so I can pay less attention to avoiding pedal...

Kona Explosif 1997 - "look, a golden bike!"

Great job on the clean-up! IMHO that downtube decal looks really bad though. Sorry.

    Mousemat´s feedback

This feedback for Mousemat is long overdue. I suggest that everyone be cautious when dealing with him. I feel it would be a disservice not to share my experience with Mousemat to other members here. I paid a generous price for a Kona Hot frame that was described as 'crack and dent free'...

SOLD! Kona Pahoehoe painted as Ku - complete with XTR

The decals on this bike do not add up. The most obvious is the poorly done reproduction KONA on the downtube. The cable routing and some decals suggest a 1998 bike and then the KONA CUSTOM on the top tube is '95ish. I'm thinking respray here. Any pics of the serial number to confirm it's a KU?

    1996 Lava Dome.

Great, great job! It's always nice to see stock representations of bikes just to remember what they first looked like. Plus, if EVERYONE modifies their bikes then the stock bikes become the unique ones!
