Re:

Wow, they are really coming out of the wood work lately! The third '97 style stars n bars in 18" in a year! This seems to be a '98 like he says as it has the triple cable braze ons along the tt same as my old green '98. I wonder if it has the mountain goat stamped drop outs or just the plain K logo'd ones from the Explosif etc?... At a guess I reckon the K stamped version as its such a late Hot.

lol.. those white graphics on with the white background make it look like its got the mother of all dents ;)

Re:

Hmmm... '96 headtube decal. '97 toptube decal spaced a little far back. The thumb sticker on the seat tube is high up on the seat tube. Top tube cable routing (hydro brakes?). I think it's legit, but a very different configuration. I'm still watching it :D

I wonder if it was a mid season "special"? The serial number would tell us a little more and hey, you've got enough Hot's already!!! ;-)

Very true! I agree with it possibly being a mid season build... or maybe the boys at Velographics were a little high on paint fumes when putting this one together.

Re:

The way I read the ad it goes that he wanted a Hot in the Stars n Bars colour way in 1998 and this is what Kona put together for him. Much like my '98 Hot that ended up with the seat stays from an 853 Explosif with rack mount holes and Kase's '98 Frankenstein Hot which has Ritchey hooded drop outs rather than K stamped Kona ones. I think from the numerous posts many have posted on here on this subject that by '98 Kona were winding down the Hot and using whatever components/decal sets available at the time. The head tube decal could even have been chosen by the customer as a custom option...

Has anyone asked for the serial no yet?

Re:

All the '96 built frames from the Mountain goat/Altitude factory started HO96 and all the '97 Hots on this forum all start with this no sequence, this means that this one was built after Altitude's contract probably by a company called Enigma in the US.
