    Shocking braking in the rain!

Thank you all for some great suggestions and information. I have read this articlehttps://rceblog.wordpress.com/2010/11/2 ... rake-pads/ and now ordered some leather brake pads off eBay. I really don't like using the Raleigh in the wet, because it takes so long to clean afterwards, but...

    Shocking braking in the rain!

That's what I was afraid of, having to buy new wheels :-( Maybe it will just have to be a dry weather bike!

    Shocking braking in the rain!

I am running my 1986 Raleigh with the original chromed wheels and brakes. The moment they get wet, my braking is reduced by about 90%, meaning that emergency stops are out of the question. I have to slow down for junctions 1/2 a mile away, and consider using a foot on the ground as well! Any...

    Please help for a newbie

Roberto, I bought my Equipe for £120 and I was able to ride it away, just to give you an idea of the condition. I didn't have to replace many parts, but the parts I did buy were well priced. As for the ride, it's great. I can't compare to other more expensive bikes, because I have never ridden...

    Please help for a newbie

Re: Hi Roberto, I have also just bought an Equipe and renovated it to do the Eroica Britannia. I am not sure about the rules in Italy, but that would be allowed in the UK as far as I know. Is there not any information on the Eroica website, about the rules that you have to adhere to? Ciao...

    Raleigh Equipe rebuild

Been a bit busy with the bike over the last few days. I have received the last few parts I was waiting for, and managed to get everything fitted. I also managed to get hold of a great set of brake levers, which I swapped out for the tacky looking eBay levers. Brown bar tape also fitted... The...

Front wheel for a Raleigh flyer

Hi guys, I am looking for a front wheel for my sons 1980's Raleigh Flyer. The outside diameter of the rim measures 555mm, so about 22". It needs to be in decent condition and true, can collect if it's near Basingstoke/Reading areas. Many thanks, Gunter.

I received my decals today. Not sure if they are 100%, I have more so if I decide to change them, I can. Not too sure if this one suits this position... My favourite!

Thanks for the links Legrande. I am tempted, but always wanted to keep the main components original if possible. Good to know cheap spares are available though... Gunter.

    Raleigh Equipe rebuild

Meejoir, I was lucky that the original bike was in such good nick. Most items just needed a degrease and polish! First ride today proved awesome. I went out with my lad, so was a bit slow, but the bike feels really good, totally different to the MTB! Gunter.
