Please help for a newbie

Hello everyone. My name is Roberto, ex road biker, (stopped in 2000), i live In Tuscany, close to home of Eroica. After some years as "crowd" this marvellous event restarted on me "fire" about bikes.
So i would like to engagé on next Eroica primavera in may 2016.
Now i am training and i am serching for a bike, as my old one is too modern for Eroica.
I would need an advise from you. I found a 1980 Raleigh Equipe like new with Sachs Huret gearshift in conditions like new and all original for more or less 250 euro. Do you think could be okay as bike for Eroica and other such events?
Thank you for the help.

Re:

Hi Roberto,

I have also just bought an Equipe and renovated it to do the Eroica Britannia. I am not sure about the rules in Italy, but that would be allowed in the UK as far as I know. Is there not any information on the Eroica website, about the rules that you have to adhere to?

Ciao,

Gunter.

Re:

Thanks you vero much for answer. Yes, as rules is okay 100%. I meant technical advise about this bike. If its okay as bike to run on events like Eroica and how should be correct price more or less.
I understood its not top level, but i don't search tris, simply average level bike to use with out fear.

Roberto, I bought my Equipe for £120 and I was able to ride it away, just to give you an idea of the condition. I didn't have to replace many parts, but the parts I did buy were well priced. As for the ride, it's great. I can't compare to other more expensive bikes, because I have never ridden any, but still impressed.

The only thing I replaced for performance is the freewheel, which has a few more teeth in top gear and makes the hills a bit easier!
